Summary:  Even though today marks the end of meteorological summer, we’ll have to wait just a little bit longer for fall-like weather as we can expect a return of warmer temperatures over the next few days, with triple-digit heat indices not out of the question.

Tonight:  Mostly clear with lows in the lower 70s with fairly calm winds.

Thursday:  Mostly sunny with highs in the mid 90s.  Winds will be light and variable in the morning, then coming from the south at 10 to 15 MPH in the afternoon.

Thursday night:  Mostly clear with lows in the mid 70s with winds out of the southwest at 10 to 15 MPH.

Your long-term forecast:  Temperatures will begin to make a stout decline by the weekend as a cold front pushes through our region Saturday bringing with it a chance for showers and thunderstorms, while Sunday and Monday will remain dry, though notably cooler.  Daytime highs for the period will be decreasing from the low 80s to the upper 60s, with overnight lows in the lower 60s to lower 50s.
