Summary:  Noticeably colder air has set in throughout northern Illinois, and is expected to stick around for a little while leaving the next couple of days roughly ten degrees cooler than average. 

Tonight:  Mostly clear with lows in the lower 20s with winds out of the west at 5 to 10 MPH. 

Thursday:  Sunny with highs in the upper 30s and winds out of the west at 10 to 15 MPH.

Thursday night:  Clear with lows in the mid to upper 20s.  Winds will be out of the southwest at 10 to 20 MPH, with gusts up to 30 possible after midnight.


Your long-term forecast:  The weekend will start off slightly warmer than normal, but temperatures will cool and become close to average by the start of next week.  There will also be a slight chance of showers Saturday through Sunday morning, with Sunday afternoon through Monday expected to remain dry.  Daytime highs for the period will generally be decreasing from the mid 50s to the mid 40s, with overnight lows also decreasing from the low 40s to the low 30s.
