Summary: A potent cold front will begin affecting the Chicagoland area by the late afternoon / early evening, which will result in a sharp decline in temperatures as well as a few possible showers.

Tonight: Partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers. Lows will drop to around 40 degrees with winds out of the west at 5 to 15 MPH.

Friday: Partly sunny with highs in the low 50s and winds out of the west at 10 to 15 MPH.  

Friday night: Partly cloudy in the evening becoming mostly clear overnight. Lows will be in the mid 30s with winds out of the west at around 10 MPH.


Your long-term forecast: After an upcoming punch of cold air, temperatures will begin to recover slightly early next week,with otherwise mild conditions expected for Sunday through Tuesday. Daytime highs for the period will generally be increasing from the low 50s to the low 60s, with overnight lows also increasing from the mid 30s to the mid 40s.
