Summary: A rather potent cold front will be passing through northern Illinois early this evening, with storms likely through tonightas well as windy conditions and a distinct drop in temperatures.

Tonight: Cloudy with showersand thunderstorms likely in the evening, becoming mostly cloudy with a chance of light showers after midnight. Lows will drop to the upper 30s with winds out of the northwest at 10 to 20 MPH with gusts up to 30 possible.

Friday: Mostly sunny and cooler with highs in the upper 40s and winds out of the north at 10 to 15 MPH.  

Friday night: Partly cloudy with lows in the mid 30s and winds out of the north at 5 to 10 MPH.


Your long-term forecast: Colder than average conditions will continue into early next week, and while Sunday and Tuesday will likely remain dry, there will be a slight chance of a few light showers during the day on Monday. Daytime highs for the period will remain fairly steady in the upper 40s, with overnight lows in the low to mid 30s.
